Football 2009
SEMI FINAL:  We lost only one game for the season and finished 2nd on the ladder. Our first game was against Oakleigh South (we had previously won by 7 points). Unfortunately we had many kids away and no ruckmen. We knew it was going to be a tough match. They came out firing and got the first and only goal for the quarter. Oakleigh South were ahead by 10 points at half time. We kicked the first goal in the third quarter and continued to exchange goals, finishing the third quarter 11 points down.  We kicked the first goal of the fourthquarter but they bounced back with three more goals.  Oakleigh South won by 20 points, despite our best efforts.
GAME 2: The second game was against St Paul’s.  After a slow start we ended up three points ahead at the end of the first quarter and continued to build a strong lead as the game went on. Well done to all the boys in the team, we had a fantastic season and hope you all enjoyed it.  Thanks Miss Sison for coaching us.

2008 A.F.L.  FOOTBALL  by  B.S.  W.B.   K.A.
All football games were played at Oakleigh Secondary College.  The team had a great start in the first game, winning 61 – 0 Vs Coatesville. Players attacked the ball hard, ran in packs and used handball very effectively. In the secondgamewe kicked 4 goals into a howling wind andwon our second game Vs Oakleigh Greek College by 12 goals. The third game Vs Oakleigh South decided who would finish on top of the pool andgo on to play in the grand final. We won the toss andkicked 5 goals withthe wind in the first half. The team continued to work hard andkicked two more goals against the windin the second half, winning the final game and finishing on top of our pool.  When the final siren went, all the boys were very tired andvery happy.  PS The MPS football team went on to win the BDPSSA grand final and will play-off in the VPSSA Winter Championships.  Good luck boys !

We had mixed results during the day – one win, one draw and one loss. It took a while for us to get going in the first game, final score Murrumbeena 0 – OakleighCollege6.  We scored our first goal from a great pass in the second game resulting in a draw 1 – 1 Vs Oakleigh South. In the final game we played really well together and scored some spectaculargoals, including a diving header. We won our final game 7 – 0 Vs Coatesville. Overall we had a great day, scored some goals, played some tough games but never gave up. Thanks to all the parents who came to support us. Oakleigh Greek College won the boys division. MPS came third over-all.

2008 SOCCER GIRLS  by  R.P.  J.C.  L.F.
Soccer games were played at CoatesvillePrimarySchool. It was a very cold and eventful day filled with lots of soccer fun.  Our first game against OakleighGreekCollege was very close, with a penalty for a hand-ball being the only goal scored during the game. Our goal keepers (I.P. & E.P.) both played really well and saved many goals. In the end, we played very well andwerea bit unlucky. The second game Vs Oakleigh South, was very tough. OSPS had a very skilled goal keeper. We scored our first goal, but lost to OSPS 3 – 1.  Our final game Vs Coatesville was really good fun.  A variety of players contributed by kicking fantastic goals and our goal keepers also played well. We won our final game 7 – 0.  We had a really good time together.  Oakleigh Greek College won the girls division. MPS came third over-all.

  1.   B.S. Says:

On Thursday the 31st of July the Murrumbeena school football team participated in the zone football finals.

In our first game we played St Kilda Park. In the first half we didn’t run enough and we stuggled to get the clearances. In the last half we played much better but they got on top of us and beat us 34 to 27.

After our first game we had a rest while St Kilda Park played Trinity. To our surprise Trinity came out and smashed St Kilda 82 to 45.

For the last game of the day we played Trinity and we were feeling pretty nervous after watching the game before, but we knew we could do it. Right from the word go we started running, talking to each other and really playing like a team. As the game went on we could see that Trinity were getting tired because they hadn’t had a rest yet. In the end we ran over them and we won 42 to 19.

Because each team had won one game and we didn’t have a clear winner it went down to percentage, goals scored for and against. St Kilda came 3rd, we came 2nd and Trinity came first, but it didn’t worry us because we were all proud and I’m sure all the parents and Mr. Pollock were to.

I’d like to thank all the perants who transported us there and Mr.Pollock for coaching us.
